Casa Verde in Ranudo Extension

Another restaurant in Cebu City worth visiting for over and over is Casa Verde. The taste is so good, and the price is just right. Prepare 250 pesos for one person.

I ate in the V. Ranudo Extension at around 11:00 in the morning. This is their main branch, and their other branches are in IT Park and Ayala Terraces.

To get to the Ranudo branch, just go to Velez College in F. Ramos street or Arlington Pond street. Then when you’re just ask around where Casa Verde is.

Here is the telephone number of Casa Verde: +63.32.253-8234

See the location map of Casa Verde below the page.

BRT in Cebu City

When I first found out that former mayor Tomas OsmeƱa prefers BRT over MRT/LRT. I frowned.

BRT is Bus Rapid Transit. “Buses” in the narrow streets of Cebu City?! My mind is thinking of Metro Manila’s streets filled with buses. Congested. The arrogant bus drivers.

I researched. I browsed Google for images. But it was the Youtube video that got me convinced that BRT is way better than Metro Manila’s LRT system.

In my observation, BRT is similar to LRT – the bus is connected to an electric cable at the top, but run on the ground, and not on a rail track. [Updated] I just found another video, buses in Brazil has no cable attached, it is like a normal bus, only longer.

According to the news article posted in the Inquirer, BRT is cheaper than MRT/LRT. It would cost 7$ M per kilometer to build, compared to LRT which is 32$ and 60$M per kilometer.

BRT would be constructed in major thoroughfares, and will have its own dedicated lanes. Small vehicles are not allowed in it.

South American countries innovated this, now US cities are copying it. Because it is effective in curbing traffic.

The project would start at the Bulacao to Talamban route, and would be practically completed by 2013 if everything goes according to plan.

Fro-Yo Craze in Paseo Arcenas

I found another frozen yogurt stall in Paseo Arcenas in Banawa. Lately, I noticed several frozen yogurt stalls sprouting everywhere in Cebu.

I’m still not sure if Fro-Yo is a Cebuano brand, but my instinct is saying it is originally Cebuano.

So far, Fro-Yo Craze is the cheapest. Their basic small yogurt starts at 70 pesos. Other froyo stalls starts at 75 pesos.

My business mind is telling me ‘there could be a generic branded yogurt manufactured by a bigger company selling it to small-sized businesses.’ Then the smaller companies will sell it as their own under their own brand.

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish

I went to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Punta Princesa in Labangon to visit the wake of the father of Richard, one of the regular visitors of this site. So I grabbed the chance to shoot this massive modern Catholic church.

Contact number and address of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish:
Punta Princesa, 6000 Cebu City
Tel. 261-5393

This was taken at almost 6:00pm.

I was trying to zoom in the electronic message board, but this is the distance my lens could only do.
