Business Updates

I will have a bit of Cebu City business updates. These are based on Sunstar articles.

Tourist Arrivals:
Cebu has a total of 1,131,230 tourists in the first seven months of 2011, an increase of 10.52%, which was 1,023,564 in the same period in 2010.

Relaunching of Colonnade Mall:
Colonnade Mall relaunched last October 9, 2011. The company spent P20 million for the renovation.

For many years, parts of the mall were neglected. I still have to take photos of the renovated look.

Krispy Kreme opens in Cebu:
Krispy Kreme opens its 25th outlet in the Philippines at the Ayala Center Cebu and Asiatown IT Park, and will also open a third outlet in SM Cebu City within this year.

Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral

Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral is one of the two popular catholic churches in Cebu City.

I’ve had a very close encounter with this magnificent church back in college. As an architecture student, I and my group mates were assigned to do a documentation of the whole church complex. In simple terms, we drew a floor plan. What we basically did was manually measure all the floors meter by meter, centimeter by centimeter, then draw it by hand.

Di Ingon Nato Trailer

“Di Ingon Nato” or Not Like Us in English is a horror movie set in a far flung Cebu village.

The language used in movie is purely Cebuano. The production is also composed of Cebuanos, although I’m not sure how many of them.

The trailer scares me a bit, I hope the actual movie is scarier.

According to their Facebook page, free screening will be on November 7 in Bonifacio High Street in Metro Manila. But the commercial screening, meaning it will be shown in cinemas will be February next year.

Tara’s Cafe

Me and my church friends went to Tara’s Cafe to ate our dinner at 10:00pm.

The more than a hundred peso price of each meal was worth it. The taste is so gooood. I would love to go back to dine at Tara’s Cafe.

This set was shot before we went to Bubble Bee.

It was my first to hangout in an unusual atmosphere. They serve tea drinks of various types. The usual hot tea, cold tea and the shake, they call it the “Slush”.

Me and my friends ordered the Slush.

I think the prices are okay. The taste of the shake we ordered was good.

Cebu City Street Art Part 1

These street mural can be seen along Queen City Memorial Garden, located in Cebu Reclamation Area, just close to Gaisano White Gold and SM Supermarket.

I started shooting at the SM side.

We used to have our own mural art here in 1997, we painted it at the old White Gold/Queensland side. It was part of a mural art contest. We did not win, but we got a consolation prize of P700, I think.

P. Gullas Street

My regret is I did not eat, I just photo walked. Well, anyway, I did eat here years ago, probably once or twice.

It would not hurt if I would eat here again. Just don’t drink the water being served here, hehe..

I have no idea who P. Gullas was. But I knew, Eddie Gullas is owner of University of the Visayas and politician, not sure if they’re related. I could not find any information on the web.
